Lesson 11:Blackwood Convention

Learn to Play Bridge: Lesson 11: Blackwood Convention: The 4NT Blackwood Convention is used to ask partner how many Aces and Kings they hold.  It is one of the most frequently played conventions when the pair have enough points and trumps to consider bidding a slam. The bid is used to check that opponents cannot cash one or two tricks against you, so it's invaluable in keeping you out of bad slams.
